Foes spank O’Care ‘mastermind’ Weiner

It seems Anthony Weiner can’t stop taking credit for ObamaCare.

At a Greenwich Village forum yesterday, Democratic mayoral rivals Sal Albanese and Bill de Blasio went after Weiner’s record, including his 1994 vote as a city councilman to decontrol rent-stabilized apartments leasing for $2,000 or more when they became vacant or the tenant had an annual income of $175,000 for two consecutive years.

Weiner defended himself against what he called the “demagogues of the world” and cited some of his other accomplishments.

“I wanted a single-payer system for our national health care. I didn’t get it, but I got ObamaCare, which made life a lot better for a lot people.”

De Blasio wasn’t letting Weiner get away with that, since the ex-congressman had earlier been forced to backpedal from his claim of having coined the term ObamaCare.

“First of all, Anthony, you didn’t get ObamaCare. President Obama got ObamaCare,” said de Blasio. “I know you have a tendency to think the world revolves around you, but it doesn’t necessarily do that.”

Weiner said de Blasio, the public advocate, didn’t understand responsibility because the job doesn’t have any.
