Ex-Giant Petitgout turns self in after allegedly beating wife with own pocketbook

Former Giants lineman Luke Petitgout allegedly hit his wife with her own pocketbook and shoved her out of their car during a one-sided, wedding anniversary-night brawl, law enforcement sources said today.

Petitgout — who last played for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2007 and was listed then at 6-foot-6, 308 pounds — was charged with felony assault, sources said.

He and wife Jennifer Petitgout, 36, were out celebrating in the Meatpacking District last week when she accused him of cheating, touching off the alleged assault, law enforcement sources said.

The retired Big Blue offensive tackle threw his wife’s pocketbook at her before tossing Jennifer out of their car on Little West 12th Street at around 5:30 a.m. on Friday, sources said.

“He launched the purse at her head, hitting her in the head with it,” a law enforcement source said.

She went to the 1st Precinct station house to report her hubby, before being taken to New York Downtown Hospital for minor injuries, sources said.

The 37-year-old former Giants lineman, accompanied by his lawyer, turned himself in this morning.

He was picked by Big Blue out of Notre Dame in the 1999 draft and last played for the Giants in 2006.
