A cold-blooded killer slept in his female victim’s own bed after he butchered the blind woman and disposed of her corpse by flinging her off the roof of her Bronx building, police sources said today.
Detectives found ex-con Duvale Stevens, 36, snoozing in the bed of Andrea Hurd, 49, inside her Mott Haven apartment at 367 East 154th Street yesterday afternoon, sources said.
A short time earlier, investigators had discovered Hurd’s partially nude body — clad in a long sleeve shirt –splayed in an alley nearby, where a building superintendant recognized her, sources said
Stevens was then hauled in to the 40th Precinct stationhouse.
Under police questioning, he confessed to repeatedly stabbing Hurd in the neck and chest with a kitchen knife during a night of drinking and smoking crack, sources said.
Stevens told police that at some point they had gotten into a nasty argument, which erupted into a frenzy of violence in the living room, sources said.
The 6-foot-6, 190-pound Stevens said he carried the much tinier Hurd to the second-floor elevator around 2:45 a.m. Wednesday and brought her to the roof of the building.
He said he tossed her lifeless body over the edge, and she plunged five floors to the ground, sources said.
He then allegedly returned to her apartment and was so exhausted that he fell asleep in her bed, sources said.
He was charged with murder and criminal possession of a weapon.
Stevens, who is on parole for attempted drugs sales, has a long rap sheet that includes arrests for narcotics.
He has done three stints in state prison between 1997 and 2011 for attempted burglary, attempted assault and attempted narcotics sale.
Hurd’s neighbors were stunned by her grisly slaying.
“The family is very heartbroken,” said Alicia Mcwilliams, 53, who lives in Hurd’s building. “They devastated. This is a helpless woman a blind woman. For someone to do that to someone who can’t see is just soulless.”
