Yo, this is your captain, and I am in the house

With prime travel season preparing for takeoff, the discounter website CouponCodes4u.com came up with one quirky query: What regional accent do passengers like to hear over the DC-10 intercom?

So they asked 2,548 travelers from across the country: Which accent gives you the most confidence that, just to be blunt about it, your pilot will actually keep the plane in the air?

Tops was good ol’ Gotham, with 57 percent of respondents claiming the dulcet tones from the City That Never Sleeps soothe them right down. Maybe pilots can pinch a page from the MTA with a “We’re being delayed by plane traffic ahead; thank you for your patience” advisory.

As for the least-favorite accent, a Texas pronunciation makes 61 percent of travelers remember the Alamo — and wish they were there instead of behind that Lone Star pilot.
