Rep. Anthony Weiner said yesterday that the 2002 No Child Left Behind Act has shortchanged New York City schools by $3.3 billion in federal aid over the last five years.
“Congress authorized money to fund the original bill, but year by year the allocations didn’t live up to the original promises,” said the Democrat, who represents Queens and Brooklyn. “I voted for this bill based on the promised funding, but it never came.”
