A package containing white powder was found yesterday outside the Manhattan offices of City Council Head Christine Quinn, authorities said.
The envelope, which also contained a threatening note along with the unidentified substance, was found on the 17th floor of her office at 250 Broadway at around 3 p.m., police said.
The floor was briefly evacuated.
The package was being tested by the NYPD last night, but the powder is believed to be harmless.
Sources said that the envelope had a return address and that the person who mailed it might suffer from poor mental health.
