B’WAY IS STAGE STRUCK

The show will not go on.

Broadway stagehands have decided to hit the picket lines, and are going on strike starting this morning.

The decision to go off the job was made by Tom Short, head of the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees.

The first strikers will set up at 11ña.m. in front of the St. James Theatre on 44th Street where “The Grinch” would have had an early matinee.

Other picket lines will go up at the dozens of theaters owned by the Jujamcyn Theaters and the Shubert Organization, which stage such shows as “Spamalot” and “Jersey Boys.”

Other shows affected are “Wicked,” “The Lion King,” “Spring Awakening” and “The Little Mermaid.”

“Mary Poppins” at the New Amsterdam and “Young Frankenstein” at the Hilton Theatre are the only major shows that will still be running.

Some shows such as “Cyrano” and “The Seafarers” may have to shut down completely if the strike goes on long – especially through the lucrative Thanksgiving weekend.
