A heartless father brutally beat his infant daughter and callously left her to die alone on the floor of their quiet Queens apartment police said yesterday.
Peter O’Keefe, 35, was arrested early yesterday morning, a day after his wife found their 13-month-old daughter lifeless on the floor of their Ozone Park home.
Cops said Louise Rojas, 34, returned to their 117th Street home Saturday evening and discovered baby Jessica unconscious and alone. Hours earlier, she had left the dad and daughter at home together while she went out.
Rojas called for help, and the little girl was taken to Jamaica Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
An autopsy is pending. Sources said there were signs of trauma on the girl’s body, including a possible fractured skull.
O’Keefe was charged with second-degree murder and endangering the welfare of a child.
Police sources said O’Keefe admitted that he hurt the child, but said he did not know how.
Officials said O’Keefe fled the scene before the mother returned.
