Waddup, Ninja?

Ars Nova, 511 W. 54th St.; (212) 868-4444

Being a ninja in the modern age just isn’t easy, or so says Ars Nova’s production of “Happy Sunshine Kung Fu Flower.” The one-night-only play (Thursday at 10 p.m.) details the comedic trials and tribulations of Japanese ninjas hired by the Chinese government to manipulate the American psyche by infiltrating American showbiz, government and media. Is there nothing the world’s evildoers won’t do in their hatred of our freedom? Tickets are $15 at smarttix.com

Putting the ‘i’ in piano

Legacy Recording Studios, 509 W. 38th St.; (212) 473-5330

Since pianos can be a bit cumbersome, avant-garde artist An-Ting Chung simply replaced the big, heavy box of keys with 56 singers, in an a capella symphony called “Inside the 100-foot Piano.” In it, she assigns the 56-notes of Glenn Gould’s version of Bach’s “Goldberg Variations” to specific singers who stand six feet apart circling the audience, thus creating true surround sound. Hear audio from the performance Thursday and Friday from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., and tickets are $15 ($7 for students).
