MEET MARKET

She’s got a self-described “Kool-Aid smile,” but Kristen isn’t afraid to bite when it comes to men who confuse her with a maiden in distress.

A chivalrous streak is appreciated, but don’t think that she’s a helpless maiden in distress: “I won’t let the guy pay all the time when we go out,” says Kristen, a pension benefits analyst. “He has to let me pay, too!”

He’d better be a mama’s boy. “If a guy doesn’t have a good relationship with his mother, he’s likely not going to treat his girlfriend properly,” Kristen says. However, pushovers need not apply: “I am a funny, independent, intelligent 24-year-old. I am not afraid to speak my mind.”

At night, you’re likely to find Kristen at a lounge or club, so rhythmically challenged guys are at a disadvantage. However, “a sense of humor is a must, as well as being a genuine person,” so as long as you can keep her interest mentally, she’ll excuse your acting like a fool on the dance floor.

If it’s high culture you want, join Kristen for an art exhibit or a Broadway play. If you’re in the mood for lowbrow activities, she equally enjoys a baseball game or hanging at a bar.

You’ll have to deal with bad taste in ’90s music, like the Spice Girls and Backstreet Boys, but at least she’ll be fine with you leaving her to enjoy her guilty pleasure solo.”My ex loved the fact that I was OK with him going out with his friends,” she says.

Dan, 26, video system senior manager

Describe yourself: I am an honest, down-to-earth guy with plenty of passion. I love listening to music, hiking, cooking and playing various sports. I think I’m a romantic type of person.

Your idea of fun? A day at the beach, golfing, fishing, playing board games like Scrabble and Cranium. I also enjoy going to bars, and spending time with friends and family at a barbecue, house party or just around the city.

Best asset? my intellect

Biggest flaw? I can be too assertive.

Anything else? I definitely spend a lot of time and energy on my career, but I have a good work/life balance. I like to take things slowly at first, and although I’m very open and honest, I can also be prudent until I am comfortable with someone.

Your idea of fun? baseball games, dive bars, roof top parties, and cool concerts

What’s attractive? intelligence, a sense of humor, curiosity

Type of woman you’re looking for? Someone who is saucy, smart, fun and multidimensional

Ideal date? We’d go to a cool bar, take a trip on the Staten Island Ferry with a bottle of wine, or maybe attend a Mets or Yankees game and get Bud in plastic cups.

Pet peeve? complainers

Worst date? I felt like I was on an interview for the job of “current boyfriend/object of angst.”

Brian, 26, architect

Describe yourself: I have an artsy personality, so I’m liberal, open-minded and carefree. I enjoy going to sporting events, as well as just hanging out in the park reading and enjoying the weather. I have a strong family background, so I often treat my friends like family.

Your type of woman? I’m looking for a very chill, open-minded, laid-back person who’s independent and knows what she wants.

What’s attractive? Confident women who feel sexy when they’re working out or getting dolled up in a dress. Mentally, I like a girl who’s smart and knows where she’s going in life.

Anything else? I love to meet people and see their different personalities.
