ROGER CLEMENS SWEARS HE IS CLEAN

Roger Clemens told “60 Minutes” that his trainer did inject him before, but never with an illegal drug.

In an excerpt from Clemens’ interview with the news magazine released yesterday, Clemens tells Mike Wallce that Brian McNamee injected him with “Lidocaine and B-12. It’s for my joints, and B-12 I still take today.”

Lidocaine is a painkiller and B-12 is a vitamin.

The interview, which airs Sunday, is the latest piece of Clemens’ denial that he ever used steroids or human growth hormone. The former Yankees pitcher was named in former Senator George Mitchell’s report last month. McNamee, his former trainer, told Mitchell he injected Clemens with steroids and HGH.

In the interview, Clemens calls the accusation “ridiculous” and says he “never” used any banned substances.

“Swear?” Wallace asks.

“[I] swear,” Clemens says.
