Stephon Marbury said yesterday he’s a lock for left-ankle surgery in the next few days, saying today’s MRI exam is just a formality.
Marbury already has had two X-rays and could be lost for the year.
“I’m going to hear from them but I already know,” Marbury said. “I’ve got a bone spur fracture. The X-rays showed it and the MRI is going to show the same thing. My foot is messed up.
“I have pain when I’m running up and down the court,” Marbury added. “It needs surgery.”
Asked if he could play through the pain, Marbury said, “I have no comment to that.”
