DAY OF TRAVEL, WORKING OUT AND FACING UP

TAMPA – Andy Pettitte did more than talk to the media yesterday.

After arriving at Tampa Airport with his wife, Laura, on a private jet, Pettitte immediately went to the Yankees’ minor league complex, where he threw 30 pitches in the bullpen while pitching coach Dave Eiland watched.

“He looked good, he has been doing his work,” Eiland said.

Pettitte, who did stretching exercises and ran before after the bullpen work, is likely to throw in a Legends Field bullpen tomorrow.

Position players are scheduled to report today and the first full squad workout is set for tomorrow. Pettitte said he will apologize to his teammates, and tomorrow might be the time to do it.
