TRANSCRIPT: SHRINK SLAY SUSPECT’S ASSAULT RAP

Below is a partial transcript of the Queens Criminal Court hearing Feb. 1 — less than two weeks before the slaying of shrink Kathryn Faughey — involving suspect David Tarloff for an earlier assault rap against a guard at the hospital where his mother was:

Judge Barry Kron: “Are the People asking for bail?”

ADA Carly Kaufman: “No.”

Judge Kron: “The defendant is ROR [released on own recognizance] on consent. There is a problem where the defendant tried to visit his mother at the hospital and got into a hassle of some sort with the nurses. They felt that she wasn’t being fed and nourished, and he got very . . . That’s not something that requires an order of protection.”

Tarloff: “Thank you.”

Kron: “The defendant is 40 years old, has no prior record, is under stressful circumstances, and anybody who has ever been in a hospital dealing with the personnel there can appreciate the frustration one deals with. I think this case will ultimately resolve itself with a diminimous [minor] resolution.

“On the other hand, you [Tarloff] don’t want to go through what you went through there at the hospital. You need to use restraint and common sense, and if there’s any sort of problem . . . you never want to come back here again.”

Tarloff: “I’m sorry.”

. . .

Kron: “Just make sure you come back Feb. 25, and stay out of trouble. OK, sir?”

Tarloff: “Thank you very much. God bless you.”
