MIKE FOR PREZ (OF BANK)

WASHINGTON – Mayor Bloomberg didn’t rule out being interested in becoming president of the World Bank, a position he has called one of the four best jobs in the world.

“I don’t think I’ll be considered for president of the World Bank,” was all the mayor said when asked about the post after delivering a speech here to the group.

Bloomberg praised the current president, Robert Zoellick, whose term ends in 2012, as a “workaholic” who’s doing a “spectacular job.”

There’s no higher praise in the mayor’s lexicon than workaholic.

When he was running for mayor in 2001, Bloomberg told Newsweek that running City Hall would be one of the best jobs in the world, ranking with US president, secretary-general of the United Nations and president of the World Bank.

On other matters, the mayor claimed that President Bush, John McCain and Mike Huckabee were more pro-immigrant than the Democratic candidates.
