RICHIE’S LATEST HIT: DUI

After two (apparently) unsuccessful stabs at rehab within the last year, Richie Sambora’s quest for sobriety has been dealt the ultimate blow: he was arrested for drunk driving.

The Bon Jovi guitarist was pulled over at 10:52 p.m. Tuesday night when his black Hummer was spotted driving erratically in Laguna Beach, Calif., and after failing several field sobriety tests, Sambora was arrested for driving under the influence.

Making matters worse, the 48-year-old was driving with three females in the car–one who is said to be his 10-year-old daughter Ava–at the time of his arrest. This, coupled with the fact that one of the other three passengers was also a minor, could lead to Sambora facing child endangerment charges. While nothing official has been announced, police officers are said to be “actively investigating” the possibility.

Drugs were reportedly not a factor in the arrest, but Sambora did ask that he be given a blood test as opposed to a breathalyzer at the Laguna Beach PD station where he was said to have been very cooperative. Richie was released around 4 a.m. on Wednesday on his own recognizance with a promise to appear in court on May 7.
