ISLES EXPECT TO FACE CROSBY

The Islanders have a chance to play spoiler down the stretch. Tonight, they will try to spoil the return of Sidney Crosby.

Crosby, sidelined for 28 of the Penguins’ past 31 games with a sprained right ankle, worked out yesterday and said he plans to play tonight against the visiting Islanders.

“I feel strong,” Crosby told reporters yesterday. “I feel a lot better than I did coming back the first time, a lot more confident.”

The Islanders aren’t heading to the playoffs but have won two of their last three games. They play the Flyers on Saturday and have two games next week against the Rangers and one against the Devils before their season ends. All three of those teams are battling for playoff position.

For the Isles, Mike Comrie’s ailing hip has him listed as day-to-day.
