SILVER UNSWAYED ABOUT KENNEDY’S LOYALTIES

She may have sold Bloomy, but Caroline Kennedy hasn’t convinced Shelly.

Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver, who last week questioned Kennedy’s loyalty to Gov. Paterson, said he still has doubts about her selection even after a private 45-minute meeting with her on Friday.

“I haven’t withdrawn any of my concerns,” Silver, the state’s second most powerful Democrat after Paterson, told The Post. “It’s clear to me that she is sponsored by the mayor or by [Deputy Mayor] Kevin Sheekey . . . and that’s an issue that [state Democrats have] raised.”

Silver stunned many state Democrats last week when he cautioned Paterson about naming Kennedy to succeed Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, alleging Kennedy was more loyal to Bloomberg than to the governor.

He also said he was disappointed that Kennedy has refused to unequivocally rule out supporting Democrat-turned-Republican-turned-independent Bloomberg for reelection next year, a sore point with many New York Democrats.
