NFL: Pacman back in Dallas?

Adam “Pacman” Jones suggested his days with the Cowboys may not be over.

In an interview on CBS’ NFL pregame show, the oft-troubled cornerback said that not only does he expect to play football next season, “I think I might be back in Dallas.”

Host James Brown then asked: “And you have an inkling that Jerry Jones will give you another shot?” Jones grinned and said, “Yeah, I do,” but didn’t offer any more details. The Cowboys had no comment.

* Rod Marinelli joined the Bears as a defensive line coach after becoming the NFL’s first head coach to post an 0-16 season. . . . Rob Chudzinski, the Browns’ offensive coordinator for the past two seasons, is interviewing with 49ers coach Mike Singletary for San Francisco’s offensive coordinator job.

* The NFL fined Colts DE Dwight Freeney $20,000 for using expletives while criticizing the officials in comments he made after Indianapolis’ 23-17 overtime loss at San Diego on Jan. 3.

MLB: Bosox sign Saito

RHP Takashi Saito agreed to a one-year deal with Boston yesterday, giving the Red Sox another veteran arm in their bullpen. Saito had 18 saves and a 2.49 ERA last season for the Dodgers despite being limited by an elbow injury.

HOOPS: Grizzlies add Miles

The Grizzlies re-signed forward Darius Miles despite a threat of legal action by the Trail Blazers, whose president, Larry Miller, said Friday he believed other clubs wanted to sign Miles because it would cost Portland money. If Miles, coming back from major knee surgery, plays two more games, Portland will be on the hook for the $18 million left on his contract.

* Jazz forward Carlos Boozer is expected to miss at least four weeks while recovering from surgery to remove loose cartilage from his left knee.

* Four months after a car accident nearly killed Don Meyer, the Northern State coach passed Bob Knight as the NCAA’s winningest men’s basketball coach. Northern State’s 82-62 win over Mary gave Meyer his 903rd victory.

HOCKEY: Jagr’s team wins

In Moscow, with the Kremlin walls and domes of St. Basil’s Cathedral as backdrops, an international squad led by Jaromir Jagr defeated an all-Russian team 7-6 in the Continental Hockey League’s All-Star game on a bitterly cold in Red Square.

* Bruins coach Claude Julien will be behind the Eastern Conference bench and Sharks coach Todd McLellan will guide the Western Conference squad at the NHL All-Star game in Montreal. . . . The Blue Jackets acquired left wing Mike Blunden from the Blackhawks in a trade for right wing Adam Pineault. . . . The Thrashers acquired center Rich Peverley on waivers from the Predators.

TENNIS: Roddick falls

In Doha, Qatar, Andy Murray won his second straight Qatar Open after defeating Andy Roddick 6-4, 6-2.

* Sidney Wood, who in 1931 became the only uncontested winner of a Wimbledon final, died. He was 97.

HIGH SCHOOLS: Rice rolls

James Stukes had 18 points and nine rebounds as Rice (5-1, 3-0 CHSAA) beat Christ the King 70-56 yesterday at Gauchos Gym in the Bronx. – Dan Martin

* Junior Marco Bertolotti of Port Washington qualified for the Melrose Games Jan. 30 at MSG, winning the boys mile in 4:15.14 at the 15th Annual Hispanic Games at the New Balance Track and Field Center at the Armory. Junior Emily Lipari of Roslyn also qualified for Melrose, winning the girls mile in 4:54.40.
