‘EMPIRE STATE’ LESBIAN BRIDES

A lesbian couple will be on top of the world this Valentine’s Day.

Jessica Chesnutt and Natalie Sauro of Brooklyn will become the first same-sex couple ever to exchange vows atop the Empire State Building, joining 13 other couples in pledging their love Feb. 14 on the 61st floor.

The Park Slope pair, both 24, were among more than 400 couples who entered a contest to determine who gets to say “I do” at the building. The contest is run by the Brides.com Web site.

“I didn’t expect to win,” confessed Chesnutt, a book editor. “The fact that the contest was open to same-sex couples is a good sign. We want the rights and responsibilities of married couples.”

For the contest, the pair submitted personal stories, a photo and their reasons for wanting to trade vows at the building, which is only open for weddings on Valentine’s Day.

Because New York doesn’t permit gay marriage, Sauro, who is from San Francisco, and Chesnutt, who is from the Washington, DC, area, will have a commitment ceremony.
