TERMINAL’S COST FERRY HIGH

When Battery Park City’s new floating ferry terminal opens next month, its final price tag will be $91.5 million – nearly three times what the Port Authority project was originally slated to cost, The Post has learned.

The PA recently OK’d a $22.4 million funding hike for a terminal at Vesey Street big enough to land five ferries simultaneously.

Built on a barge, the terminal ran into problems shortly after being proposed months before 9/11.

“It was a design that couldn’t be made, so it had to be redesigned several times,” one source said.

The cost estimate went from $37.4 million to $55.6 million in 2004. More increases followed. The terminal is scheduled to open March 18.
