BID FOR SON IS SPERMINATED

A Manhattan sperm bank has been given permission to destroy a dead man’s semen samples that his parents had been hoping to use to make a grandchild.

Although the grandparents’ “plight elicits sympathy, we can find no legal basis” for requiring Repro Labs to disregard Mark Speranza’s wishes that the samples be destroyed after his death, declared a state mid-level appeals court.

Mary and Antonio Speranza had planned to use the semen of their son, who died in 1998 at age 23, “in the artificial insemination of a surrogate mother” they’d lined up, court papers say.
