TIMES CLIMBER SENTENCED

The last of three publicity hounds to climb the New York Times building last summer was sentenced in Manhattan yesterday to five days of community service.

The bizarre outbreak of attempts to promote personal causes by scaling the ladder-like exterior of the Ninth Avenue building began June 5, with Frenchman Alain Robert, 45 (global warming), followed within hours by copycat Brooklynite Reynaldo Clarke, 32 (malaria).

Clarke got one day of community service; Robert, three.

David Malone, 29, of West Hartford, Conn., was sentenced yesterday for making the climb to promote his self-published anti-Bush book.
