‘MONTANA’ CO-CREATOR: LEAVE MILEY ALONE

The co-creator of “Hannah Montana” has a message for the media – leave Miley Cyrus alone.

Cyrus, 15, whose alter ego is the Disney channel’s Hannah Montana has become one of the hottest teen stars in the world, seemingly overnight. But along with the fame, Cyrus has gotten the misfortune of living most of her life in the glare of paparazzi flashbulbs and critics.

“To say the tabloids are paying attention to her is a very kind way of saying it, “Montana” co-creator Michael Poryes – who rarely speaks to reporters – told the Winnipeg Sun. “It becomes like Miley Cyrus bites her finger nails is news at 11. They don’t give her a break for being able to go through the aches and pains of being an adolescent. Everyone has the right to go through being an adolescent.

“They blow everything out of proportion and a little misstep becomes the biggest tragedy that ever struck mankind. The challenge of that is to make Miley feel – at least in this circle of people – that it’s fine to make mistakes, [that] you’re not going to be judged or scrutinized on the set,” he says.

On the show, Cyrus, basically plays herself, a girl who is a normal teen by day, but is a popstar phenom by night.

In recent months, she’s attracted some unwanted attention when racy private pics of her were leaked onto the Internet, followed by a questionable “topless” photo spread (she was covered by a sheet) in Vanity Fair.
