STRAHAN TO JOIN FOX PREGAME

Retired from football for only a matter of days, Michael Strahan didn’t wait long before jumping into the next phase of his professional life.

Strahan has been signed by FOX Sports as an NFL studio analyst. An 1:30 p.m. press conference is scheduled for Tuesday to formally announce Strahan’s hiring.

A source at FOX today confirmed that the former Giants defensive end will join host Curt Menefee, and analysts Terry Bradshaw, Howie Long and Jimmy Johnson on the set of “FOX NFL Sunday.”

Strahan is the second former Giants star in the past two years to take a high-profile network pregame show job. Tiki Barber, the former Giants running back who retired before last season, works for NBC.

“Every couple of years an athlete comes along who has the right combination of intelligence, humor, sparkle and personality that often times you can see these traits in advance by the way they give interviews,” CBS Sports chairman Neal Pilson said when Strahan retired. “Michael is a natural fit.”

Strahan, 36, who informed the Giants of his retirement from the NFL on June 9, played 15 seasons with the Giants and is the franchise leader in games played (216) and career sacks (141 1/2).

He set the NFL single-season sack record with 22 ½ sacks in 2001, was named to the Pro Bowl seven times, and had one sack, three tackles and two quarterback hits in the Giants’ 17-14 Super Bowl XLII win over the Patriots.
