SPIN-RAGE WAR GETS RECYCLED

The notorious Spin Rage case just keeps rolling along.

A stockbroker who famously leaped off his stationary bike during an Upper East Side spin class and nearly bounced a grunting, whooping hedge-funder off his own bike for being too loud is looking for revenge now that a jury has cleared him of misdemeanor assault.

Admitted spin-basher Christopher Carter is asking Manhattan DA Robert Morgenthau to prosecute admitted grunter Stuart Sugarman for allegedly perjuring himself on the witness stand during the wacky fitness fracas trial two months ago.

Carter probably did cause Sugarman’s severe herniated neck disc, jurors conceded after their verdict in the Manhattan Criminal Court case.

But the testimony of four fellow spin-class participants repeatedly contradicted Sugarman’s own account of the spin smackdown, damaging his credibility to the point where they couldn’t believe a word he said – and so they couldn’t find Carter guilty beyond a reasonable doubt, they told reporters.

One juror went so far as to call Sugarman “a huge liar.”

A spokeswoman for Morgenthau said the DA has not seen the letter and would not comment on whether they would investigate Sugarman.

Carter’s perjury pitch is just “a publicity stunt,” timed to deflect adverse public opinion now that Sugarman is suing Carter for his injuries, Sugarman said through his lawyer, Samuel Davis.

But Carter’s lawyer, Michael Farkas, said Carter feels compelled to call in the DA because Sugarman just keeps lying.

“His big mistake is that he has repeated the exact same lies in the civil complaint,” Farkas said.
