UPSCALE EAST SIDE BRAWLERS

Two tony Upper East Side gents got into a street brawl yesterday – bringing to a boiling point a long-simmering feud between the bickering condo neighbors.

William Carroll, a former oil trader who has lived on the 12th floor of 40 E. 78th St. for 12 years, was allegedly attacked by new neighbor and gallery owner Walter Graham Arader III.

Arader was charged with misdemeanor assault. Carroll went to Lenox Hill Hospital, where he was treated and released.

“When I first met him, he seemed like nice,” Carroll said. “He said he wouldn’t be here that much, that he just got it for storage.”

But Carroll filed a complaint last spring about allegedly unauthorized construction to turn the Arader condo into a gallery.

The feud came to a head at about 1 p.m.

“Arader comes walking around the corner and then he’s like a bull. He charges me and I flew 8-10 feet,” said Carroll. “We wanted to start a family here. But now I don’t know because I’m living next to Mr. Vindictive.”

Arader said, “I’m just trying to move my stuff out of my apartment, and there was some bumping and I don’t think it was a big deal,” adding he never intended to convert to a gallery.

He said was never told charges were filed – “So I’ll be getting a lawyer.”
