BREINDEL COLLEGE HONOR

A talented young writer was honored yesterday with the Eric Breindel Award for Excellence in College Journalism.

Elise Viebeck, a junior at Claremont McKenna College in California, was presented with a $10,000 prize and a summer internship with The Post.

Viebeck won the award for her investigation into a professor’s questionable dealings in artwork stolen by Nazi Germany.

The award, named for former Post Editorial Page Editor Eric Breindel and sponsored by News Corp., is presented to the writer whose work best expresses Breindel’s passion for American ideals and institutions.

A corresponding award for professional journalists was presented to Wall Street Journal columnist Brett Stephens last month.
