LIBERAL TOUR OF DUTY: OBAMA DOES BAGHDAD

The editorial “Barrack’s Iraq Trip” (July 19) can be very telling for this rookie’s aspirations.

These Arab leaders want Sen. Barack Obama to be our next president, for he is a plum that these leaders can juice up and then stab in the back.

As long as our drive-by media give Obama airtime and praise, we’re falling right into the hands of our enemies.

I hope that our generals in Iraq give Obama the works so that he understands that he is not yet president.

Barack the hack goes to Baghdad, and we are all supposed to be impressed? I don’t think so.

Yes, the media will tell the people that the junior senator is a charmer and that he can do anything, but the truth is that he has not done much in his career except to be an image.

I am glad that Obama is visiting Afghanistan, Iraq and other countries to get a firsthand look at these places and help bolster his foreign-policy knowledge, of which he has often been criticized for not having enough.

Hopefully, these visits will be far more than just window-dressing.

I am particularly pleased that he visited Afghanistan first, as it shows the importance Obama places on it. Winning this country for democracy is vital to defeating the al Qaeda terrorists.

Obama is finally fulfilling his “on the job” training trip to Iraq.

I hope that once the American people get over this new rock star, they will come to realize that it takes much more experience than dancing on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show,” talking on “The View” or sitting next to Oprah to run a great country like America.

Media darling Obama, accompanied by fawning television anchors Brian Williams, Katie Couric and Charles Gibson, hops over to Iraq for some photo ops.

He is shown shaking hands with various big-wigs, nodding intelligently and, thus, instantly is able to formulate life-or-death decisions concerning the future of the United States.

Meanwhile, poor Sen. John McCain is ridiculed for daring to assume that his past military and government service qualify him for anything except yawns. Go figure.

I wonder why Obama is not suggesting that we pull out of Chicago (“The Chicago Lesson,” Editorial, July 19).

Apparently, Chicago is as dangerous for Americans as Iraq, but in Chicago it is Americans killing Americans.

Why don’t the liberals remind us each day of the number of Americans killed in Chicago, just as they revel in reminding us of the number killed in Iraq?

The “war” in Chicago has been going on much longer with no end in sight. Perhaps we need a “surge” there, too.

Obamites, who recently became fans of wire-tapping, gun rights and the death penalty, eagerly await what flavor Kool-Aid Obama will serve them on Iraq.

While having fierce, anti-Iraq war opinions just yesterday, their minds are now blank, waiting to be filled.

Obama will probably say: “We can now be cautiously optimistic in preserving and enhancing the freedoms of millions. And because I was smart enough to oppose this war, I’ll take it from here.”

I can rest easier at night knowing that Obama is visiting the Mideast for several days, intent on solving the problems of the region.

Unfortunately, individuals with more exposure to the Mideast have not been able to do so.

With his expected success now as a person versed in the intricacies of Mideast politics, I expect that he will work miracles if elected.
