REASON DERAILED: MTA’S TRAIN FOR JIHAD

THE ISSUE: The subway ad campaign sponsored by a controversial Brooklyn imam.

Does the MTA really need cash so badly that it would even entertain this idea (“Jihad Train,” July 21)?

This is a slap in the face to all of New York. What’s next – an Islamic mosque built right next to the newly developed World Trade Center area if enough money is offered?

Politically correct business decisions like this need to be derailed immediately. Surely the MTA does not need money that badly.

I buy The Post every day for its various editorial views, but I find your exploitation of Imam Siraj Wahhaj offensive.

His advertisements are nothing more than what Mormons and Catholics have been doing for years.

As the first Muslim cleric to pray at the opening of the House of Representatives, he is a source of pride for New Yorkers.

Wahhaj has never been indicted in any terrorist activity, and his advertisements for people to embrace Islam do not deserve to be condemned as part of a “Jihad Train.”

He is simply the prayer leader of an important mosque in Brooklyn.

Isn’t this called treason? To aid and abet a known enemy in enlisting agents cannot be called anything else.

It’s time we wake up and stop the insanity going on in this country.

Whom do we call? How do we fight this before they get away with it?

What an inspired decision. Surely the MTA knows how many Christians ride the subways in New York, and surely it realizes that these posters will be vandalized with attendant damage to the cars.

Will the ads be in place before the seventh anniversary of 9/11? I’m sure the many families of the victims who will take the subway down to Ground Zero from Midtown will really appreciate it if they are.

I don’t see what’s wrong with a guy trying to educate people about his religion.

I take the subway everyday and see Christian ads, as well, so where is the problem here?

The reason why so many people are Islamaphobic is because there is no outcry among the truly peace-loving Muslims against the jihadist fanatics.

The Ku Klux Klan, Black Panthers, Weathermen and other terrorist groups were condemned for their rhetoric and violent actions. Why do Islamists get a pass?

Were a Christian or a Jewish group to espouse its religion on public mass transit, we’d hear cries of “separation of church and state,” “The Christian Right” or “Jewish domination of the media.”

There should be no religious ads of any kind on taxpayer-funded municipal transit systems in New York City or anywhere else in America.
