LUXE JUMBO JET’S JFK DEBUT

The world’s largest passenger airliner – complete with a bar, showers and even a spa – made its maiden commercial voyage to US soil yesterday.

The $327 million, double-decker Airbus A380 landed on time at Kennedy Airport but not before its 489 passengers had spent 12½ hours in the friendly skies and the lap of luxury.

The Emirates aircraft took off from Dubai and touched down just before 5 p.m. at JFK, where the Port Authority had spent $179 million reinforcing runways and taxiway bridges and modifying terminals in preparation for its ample aft.

“We’re ushering in a new era in aviation . . . without adding flights to already overcrowded airspace,” said PA Executive Director Chris Ward.
