SLAIN BOXER’S ‘DANCE’ OF DEATH

Dancing to blaring music from his hours-old car stereo sparked the murder of rising South Bronx boxer Ronney “Venezuela” Vargas, his grieving older brother said yesterday.

Vargas, 20, was standing outside the red 1998 Honda Civic he’d bought with the $35,000 he got for signing his first pro contract when he began dancing with some young women early Saturday. But the women’s male friends became jealous, said Ronald Vargas, 24, who had installed the stereo earlier in the day.

“[The women] started talking to him and dancing to his music,” he said. “Knowing my brother, he was trying to get their [phone] numbers.”

Sensing trouble, the junior middleweight with the perfect 8-0 record drove off but was chased down and shot dead at Hughes Avenue near 178th Street.

Police said they were looking for a bald, light-skinned, Hispanic male.
