A gay dad from Chelsea who spirited his toddler son to Israel – and away from his estranged husband, who shared custody – pleaded guilty yesterday to taking the boy.
Eric Hyett, 38, a computer systems expert from West 17th Street, will be sentenced later this month to 45 days jail for felony custodial interference. He has been in jail since Aug. 22.
“I’m going to take full responsibility for my actions,” Hyett told a Manhattan Supreme Court judge yesterday.
“I made a bad, inappropriate decision to remove my child from the jurisdiction of the court. I realize it was a violation of the order of the court.”.
Hyett also admitted he posed as his ex, Joshua Glazer, to trick officials into granting a passport to the boy, Jedidiah, without Glazer’s permission.
Hyett had weekend custody of Jedidiah on Aug. 2, when he took the kid to Israel, telling Glazer by phone that he’ll never bring him back.
