GOTTI WANTS TO FLY FLA. COOP FOR NY CELL

Junior’s homesick.

Beleaguered John “Junior” Gotti, who is awaiting trial in Florida on a trio of decades-old murder raps, filed papers yesterday asking that his case be brought back to New York because he can’t afford to mount a defense in the Sunshine State – and he misses his family too much.

“Gotti, who is not even alleged to have set foot in [Tampa], may well be unable to bear the considerable expense of trying this case 1,200 miles from home,” his lawyer, Charles Carnesi, wrote in a filing obtained by The Post.

Carnesi calculates that it could cost well over $50,000 just to arrange for 30 or so defense witnesses to travel to Florida to take the stand in support of the high-profile defendant.

He also complains the jailed mob scion needs to be near his family.

The case against Junior alleges three gangland murders and a coke-dealing operation that could have kept half of New York high for weeks.

He was arrested Aug. 5, and prosecutors in Florida took the case because they say Gotti had overseen a Gambino operation in Tampa.

Carnesi argued that the alleged events occurred in New York.
