FISCAL CAT-ASTROPHE

The Cat Fanciers’ Association Iams Cat Championship will have 248 entrants when the claws come out Saturday and Sunday. The 2007 show drew its standard capacity field of 325 cats.

Organizers blame the economic meltdown for this year’s drop.

“People are afraid to spend. They want to know, ‘What can I opt out of?'” said CFA treasurer Kathy Calhoun, holding her Maine coon, Majestic Prince, during a press preview yesterday.
