WISHING CHENEY WELL

Vice President Cheney was briefly hospitalized last week for a few hours to “reset” an irregular heartbeat.

This is the second time in a year that Cheney – survivor of four heart attacks – has undergone this procedure.

That not all Americans would wish Cheney a quick recovery is a sad commentary on a currently polarized society.

Yes, Cheney is one of the most controversial VPs in US history, but he is also an extraordinarily dedicated public servant.

During a period of profound international instability and danger, Cheney has been unafraid to make tough decisions. Indeed, he’s been a forceful presence in the Bush administration.

In return, he has been demonized by Democrats, liberal activists and the media.

Yet few men have served their nation with such distinction.

He was an adviser to President Richard Nixon, chief of staff to President Gerald Ford, a Wyoming congressman and defense secretary for President George H. W. Bush.

Since 9/11, Cheney has been one of the strongest proponents of an aggressive prosecution of the War on Terror.

Despite the contempt that many in the media hold for him, Dick Cheney has been a consummate professional working very hard to keep America safe.

We wish you a speedy recovery, Mr. Vice President.
