BUSH AT HELM ON VETS DAY

President Bush will lead Veterans Day ceremonies at the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum on Nov. 11 and will receive the 2008 Intrepid Freedom Award, the museum announced yesterday.

“This is only the second time a sitting president has visited us,” said the museum’s president, Bill White. “And we believe it says a great deal about the importance of the Intrepid’s mission to support and honor our heroes, our troops and their families.”

Bill Clinton was the other president to visit the Intrepid while commander-in-chief.

The presidential visit will be part of the Intrepid’s reopening festivities.

The World War II aircraft carrier, which underwent a two-year, $115-million upgrade, will be open again to the public at its Pier 86 Hudson River berth starting Nov. 8.
