SEX WASN’T AS GOOD FOR LIVID RING CONVICTS

The Emperors Club VIP quartet that put beautiful women in the arms of well-heeled johns like New York’s sex-starved ex-governor will all suffer a fate far worse than their most notorious client.

While Eliot Spitzer lost his high office and the public respect he spent a career trying to cement, his choices will not cost him his freedom.

Less fortunate were Emperors Club ringleaders Mark Brener and Cecil “Katie” Suwal – as well as hooker bookers Tanya Hollander and Temeka Lewis – who all have pleaded guilty and are awaiting sentencing.

Hollander’s lawyer, Michael Farkas, came out swinging against the feds’ decision to let Spitzer slip free from prosecution.

“I’ve been saying since early on in the case that Mr. Spitzer is a co-conspirator in the Emperors Club enterprise,” Farkas said. “I believe him to be a much more egregious actor than my client Tanya.

“However, despite this and despite her cooperation and full acceptance of responsibility, she’s still facing jail time. This is an inequity I hope will be remedied at Tanya’s sentencing.”

Hollander, a holistic-health counselor who worked as a part-time booker for the Emperors Club, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to cross state lines with an illegal business.

She faces six months to a year in jail.

Lewis, who arranged Spitzer’s illicit trysts, was the first to plead guilty in the case and agreed to cooperate with prosecutors.

She faces about 16 months for her pleas to money laundering and promoting prostitution.

Her lawyer, Marc Agnifilo, also demanded equal treatment.

“I anticipate this means that they will not be seeking a prison term for Temeka Lewis,” he said. “To do otherwise strikes me as inconsistent with their decision to not charge Mr. Spitzer. We can’t undo the arrests, and we can’t undo the guilty pleas, but I hope at this point the government doesn’t seek a prison term.”

Emperors Club founder Brener pleaded guilty to money laundering and prostitution conspiracy in June, admitting he ran the club.

He faces 24 to 30 months in prison under his deal.

His lawyer, Murray Richman, was sympathetic to the ex-governor, saying he believes there was no basis for a charge against Spitzer.

As for Brener’s ex-girlfriend, Suwal, she tearfully pleaded guilty to the same charges for serving as the ring’s madam. She faces 21 to 27 months.

Alberto Ebanks, Suwal’s lawyer, said, “Their decision to not pursue this matter further against our disgraced former governor doesn’t surprise me, as it is not typical or common for federal authorities to prosecute johns, albeit the most powerful john in the state of New York.”
