YANKEE RIPPERS

* Our illustrious Mayor and his subordinates saw fit to blow umpteen millions of the taxpayers’ money to move Yankee Stadium across the street. George Streinbrenner’s hefty and underprivileged son who should have footed the bill, then went out and made the highest monetary offer ever to CC Sabathia, a pitcher who is so huge he may explode before his six-year contract is up. They already own or have owned the highest contracts ever for a first basemen, a third baseman, a shortstop, a relief pitcher and, possibly, a catcher. Can somebody please tell me why we have to pick up the tab for these guys? P.T. Barnum once said there is a sucker born every minute. Eighty years later there are eight million of them here in the naked city.

* If The Boss were still the boss of the Yankees, there is no way he wouldn’t sign Manny Ramirez. It doesn’t matter what it costs, he’s a difference maker, and the Yankees definitely need a difference maker.

Favre and away

* Gunslinger Brett Favre came into Thursday’s game leading the NFL in interceptions, but against the Patriots, he was close to perfect. He had to be. But whether it’s a wild shootout or a more conservative, controlled game, Favre is always exciting. If the Jets make the playoffs, Favre is the guy who made it happen.

Super Jets

* I know a championship team when I see one. And coupled with the back-to-back tandem of the two most impressive wins in Jets history – the 47-3 trouncing of the Rams and the thrilling 34-31 overtime “gut-check” win against the defending conference champion Patriots in their own home stadium – that’s exactly what I see coming into focus. Led by first ballot Hall of Famer Brett Favre these are not – I repeat not – the “same old Jets” that have disappointed fans since the afterglow of Joe Namath’s signature moment in Super Bowl III. With that in mind, I’m going to get out in front of this budding juggernaut and get to work on the lyrics to the 2008 Jets version of the “Super Bowl Shuffle.”

Bullish on Brandon

* Though he’s not a fullback, Brandon Jacobs is evoking memories of some of the greatest fullbacks I have had the privilege of watching over the years. Doc Blanchard, Jim Brown, Larry Csonka and John Riggins come to mind, but if I were assigned the task, the guy I would least want to see coming my way would be Marion Motley of the old Cleveland Browns. Lets hope Jacobs stays healthy so Giants fans can see him ushered into the Hall of Fame. He sure has, so far, shown that he has all the makings.

Frank-ly, he’s done

* I’m a Nets season ticket holder, but they have become a hard team to watch. Poor shooting and spotty defense have been the normal during coach Lawrence Frank’s tenure. I wonder if the players are listening to him at all. His rotation seems to change from game to game and it can have an effect on his young players. Bruce Ratner, cut your losses and get a coach that will have this team ready to play every game.

Style points

* Larry Brooks hit the nail on the head [“Stylish difference,” The Post and nypost.com, Nov. 10]. The Rangers don’t need size or snarl, just stability and smarts. An injury-free season with a healthy goaltender and fresh legs will propel them into the playoffs and Stanley Cup contention.
