MTA SLOW ON SAFETY

The MTA is three years behind implementing anti-terror projects scheduled in the wake of the 9/11 attacks, a state audit said yesterday.

The projects involve the system’s “most vulnerable and heavily used assets,” like stations, transit hubs, tunnels and bridges, according to the report from state Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli.

It was his fifth such report in two years. Each has been more critical of the slow pace of the improvements.

The MTA pointed out that the report acknowledged 36 of 40 planned construction projects are under way. It also pointed to new ads for its “See Something, Say Something” program.
