KNICKS TIX AT COSTCO

Among the supersized boxes of diapers, dog food and giant jugs of laundry detergent is a new item for sale at Costco – tickets to Knick games.

In exploring untraditional avenues to sell ducats in this sagging economy, the Knicks have tapped the famous discount bulk retailer.

Amid the fat tubs of mayo and ketchup, you can find a cardboard package with a Knick logo, advertising 40 percent off two tickets in the 300-level.

Customers can bring the package to the register and receive a $70 Knicks card good for two seats for any game except for blackout dates – LeBron James’ Cavs on Nov. 25; Golden State on Nov. 29; Denver on Dec. 28; and Jan. 4 vs. the Celtics.

“With the holiday season fast approaching, we wanted to create an opportunity for our fans to experience the new era,” said senior VP of marketing Howard Jacobs.

“With good seats at an affordable price, Costco serves as the perfect outlet.”

The Knicks have averaged 18,819 in their first three home games, ranking 10th in the league, with one sellout.

Tonight’s game vs. Oklahoma City is not expected to sell out.

Roughly 15 percent of the Knicks’ season-ticket holders from last season did not renew, but the team was up 10 percent in new subscribers from last season.
