THE DUKES

MIDDLE-AGE former doo- wop singers try to resurrect their careers in the good-natured goombah comedy “The Dukes.”

Chazz Palminteri and Robert Davi, who also co-wrote and directed the film, play chefs who hatch a nutty scheme with a couple of buddies to fund their dreams with a heist – of gold from a dentist’s office.

The bickering and mishaps make for a semi-enjoyable if low-impact film that may appeal to the kind of nostalgics who buy Time-Life collections of ’60s songmeisters. But jokes about a matron at an Italian restaurant and a guy with a thing for fat chicks only take you so far.

Running time: 90 minutes. Rated PG-13 (profanity, sexuality). At the Village East, the Empire.
