JACOBS, BRADSHAW SIT OUT, TOO

The MRI test administered Tuesday to Plaxico Burress revealed what everyone around the Giants already knew, that he has a right hamstring injury. Burress did not practice yesterday and is day-to-day as he rehabs his ailing leg.

“He is resilient, a very tough guy,” Tom Coughlin said. “We’re just going to have to wait and see. Hopefully this is something he can overcome in a short time. But let’s face it, it’s a hamstring.”

Translation: There are no guarantees at all that Burress will be able to play in Sunday’s game against the Redskins at FedEx Field. Burress lasted only three plays in last week’s victory in Arizona before he took himself out of the game because he could not run anywhere close to full speed.

Running back Brandon Jacobs missed the game against the Cardinals with a swollen left knee, and he also sat out yesterday’s practice. The expectation is that Jacobs will be able to practice today, when the Giants come in for a morning Thanksgiving Day workout before heading home early in the afternoon for the holiday.

“I feel pretty good about this weekend,” Jacobs said.

Defensive tackle Fred Robbins sustained a shoulder injury in Arizona and also was held out of practice, while receiver Domenik Hixon (ankle) was limited. A late addition to the injury report was running back Ahmad Bradshaw, who missed practice because of a sore neck.

“I took a nice shot in the game, pretty much just a stiff neck, like every game, this one’s just a little worse,” Bradshaw said. “It just tightened after the game, got X-rays, everything’s fine. I pretty much knew it wasn’t that bad, I just knew it was going to be a little sore this week. Time will tell.”

K Lawrence Tynes has asked the Bush Administration to commute the 27-year sentence his brother is currently serving. Mark Tynes is in a federal facility in Arkansas after he was convicted in 2004 on two counts of marijuana distribution for his involvement in a plan to move 18 tons of marijuana between Texas and Florida. He is out of appeals to reduce the sentence.

“He deserves to be spending time, the 27 years is something that we think is a little steep,” Lawrence Tynes said. “It’s probably one in a million or however how many people file. It’s a long shot at this point, but that’s the only thing we have left. At this point in time, it’s kind of like the Hail Mary pass. It’s worth a shot.”

Two key members of the Redskins defense, LB London Fletcher and DE Andre Carter, did not practice because of foot injuries. Fletcher, the team-leader with 92 tackles, has started 130 consecutive games. i 1/2
