Joseph “JoJo” Simmons – whose dad was a founding member of the rap group Run-DMC – bolted after cops allegedly saw him rolling a marijuana joint in Washington Heights at 7.30 p.m. Friday.
The teen – who was behind the wheel of a BMW on Wadsworth Avenue when cops approached – slammed his car in reverse and smashed into vehicles parked behind him, police said.
He then took off on foot, cops said.
But JoJo – who heads his own rap group called Team Blackout – didn’t run fast enough. Police said that when they caught up with him, he started throwing punches.
He was arrested and charged with reckless endangerment, resisting arrest, marijuana possession and criminal use of drug paraphernalia.
