Jets bopped by bumbling Bills, 16-13

Frauds.

This is what the big-talking Jets have shown themselves to be since their ballyhooed 3-0 start.

Their performance – in the last two weeks in particular – has been utterly abysmal.

Last Monday night in Miami, the Jets’ defense was an embarrassment, giving up the lead three times in the fourth quarter en route to a devastating loss.

This afternoon, against the woeful Buffalo Bills, the stench emanated from the Jets’ offense, with Mark Sanchez delivering his worst performance as a pro, throwing five interceptions and missing receivers all game.

The end result was a 16-13 Bills overtime win over the Jets at Giants Stadium – a win that possibly saved Buffalo’s season and has left the Jets’ season in turmoil after the bold start.

BOX SCORE

The Jets have lost their last three games after the 3-0 start.

The Bills, now 2-4, put the miserable Jets out of their misery on a 47-yard game-winning field goal by Rian Lindell with 2:44 remaining in OT.

Lindell had missed a 46-yard FG attempt wide right as time expired in regulation.

The Jets, who won the toss in OT, had a chance to win it on the first possession of the extra period, but they never got a 50-yard Jay Feely FG attempt off because holder Steve Weatherford bobbled the snap.

So for the second consecutive game, the Jets played a huge role in saving an AFC East opponent’s season.

Last Monday night, the Jets went to Miami with a 3-1 record to play the 1-3 Dolphins and left 3-2 with the Dolphins back in the AFC East race at 2-3.

Today, the injury-plagued and low-morale Bills, who entered the game having scored six touchdowns in five games, staggered into Giants Stadium with a 1-4 record and with all of Western New York squawking for their head coach Dick Jauron to be fired.

The Jets somehow lost a game in which they rushed for 212 yards in the first half alone. They lost a game in which their RB Thomas Jones rushed for a career-high 210 yards. They lost a game in which they knocked out Bills starting QB Trent Edwards in the second quarter, leaving backup Ryan Fitzpatrick to beat their supposed vaunted defense.

Now they Jets are faced with having to save their own season next Sunday in Oakland.
