Teixeira returns to Yankees with two hits

DUNEDIN, Fla. — Mark Teixeira doubled and singled after missing two games with a sore elbow and the Yankees beat the Toronto Blue Jays 5-2 onThursday.

“I was very blessed not to have anything worse, I felt really good,’’ said Teixeira, who wore a protective pad and went 2-for-4.

Teixeira’s right elbow was bruised when he was hit by a pitch Monday against Baltimore.

Despite not feeling comfortable with the protection, Teixeira will comply with Joe Girardi’s wish that his No. 3 hitter wear it “until it’s not sore at all.’’

Robinson Cano and Nick Swisher each had a pair of singles. Right-hander A.J. Burnett allowed two runs on five hits in 4 2/3 innings, including Jose Bautista’s home run on his second pitch.

“That was my best (of the spring),’’ Burnett said. “I threw some good hooks and good changeups.’’

Joba Chamberlain pitched in consecutive games for the first time this spring.
