More ‘9/11’ lung anguish

Rescue workers who responded to Ground Zero after 9/11 are continuing to have diminished lung capacity, researchers reported yesterday.

The study, published in the New England Journal of Medicine, found that one year after the attack, the typical responder’s lung capacity diminished as if they’d aged 12 years.

While doctors hoped their lungs would rebound, they actually continued to worsen over the next six years.

Meanwhile, as many as 20 possible human remains found during a search of the Fresh Kills landfill by experts looking for 9/11 victims will be sent to labs for tests, WNBC/Channel 4 reported.
