Punchin’ Judy knocks ‘Oprah’ for a loop

udge Judy” Sheindlin is the new May Queen, over taking Oprah Winfrey last month to win the all-important sweeps period.

“Judge Judy” finished as TV’s most-watched daytime show last month, averaging 6.4 million viewers nationwide.

“Judy” was up 11 percent in viewers over May ’09, when it finished second to “Oprah.”

It averaged an additional 637,000 viewers last month versus what it averaged in May ’09.

Oprah” averaged 6.2 million viewers last month as daytime’s second-most-watched show — but was down 9 percent from May ’09, when it averaged 6.8 million viewers, according to Nielsen.

Dr. Phil” finished third in daytime last month with 3.8 million viewers, on average.

“Oprah” will end its 25-season run in September 2011, when Winfrey moves to her Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN), a co-production with Discovery Communications.
