Airport arrests take off

The airport is becoming the place where terrorists begin their trips to prison.

Despite ample opportunity to bust Mohamed Alessa and Carlos Eduardo Almonte at their New Jersey homes, authorities pounced on the accused jihadists last night at JFK, before they boarded planes to Egypt.

Suspects about to board a plane are more likely to have evidence on them, sources said. Also, they’re less likely to be armed. And if they’re caught trying to leave the country, they’re less likely to persuade a judge that they were going to back out of a plot.
