Jets could be without Revis, Cromartie vs. Bills

The Jets could face the Bills on Sunday without starting cornerbacks Darrelle Revis and Antonio Cromartie, coach Rex Ryan said Friday.

Revis, with a hamstring injury, and Cromartie, with a groin injury, were limited in practice and listed as questionable.

Asked if there was a chance the two would sit out, Ryan said, “Could be a chance of that.”

“If there’s a chance that they’re not feeling better with their hamstring and groin, then it would make more sense that we have them healthy for the playoffs,” he said. “I’m not ruling them out, but we’ll see how it goes.”

Quarterback Mark Sanchez was limited in practice with an injured shoulder but is listed as probable and expected to start the regular-season finale at New Meadowlands Stadium.

“I don’t believe (he’ll play) long,” Ryan said, adding, “We wouldn’t play him if we didn’t think he’s ready to go.”

Ryan said the mechanics of Sanchez’s throwing motion would not further injure the shoulder he hurt two weeks ago in Pittsburgh.

“There’s always that risk if someone drives him to the turf, but that’s inherent with the position,” Ryan said. “I don’t think he’s in any (more) risk of (getting hurt with) what we’re going to ask him to do.”

The coach said backups Mark Brunell and Kellen Clemens took most of the snaps in Friday’s practice.

Sunday’s game is virtually meaningless for the Jets, who already have clinched an AFC wild card and have only a long-shot chance to improve from the sixth seed to the fifth.

Ryan said offensive tackle Damien Woody (knee) and safety James Ihedigbo (leg) are out, safety Eric Smith (head) is doubtful, and defensive end Shaun Ellis (back) is questionable.

Bills starting quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick did not take any snaps at practice Friday, according to the Buffalo News

Brian Brohm would replace Fitzpatrick, who said he plans to play if he is able.
